How the Luge Works
After taking the Skyline Gondola to Bob’s Peak, riders travel to the luge area where a chairlift carries them to the start of the tracks. Following a short safety briefing, guests hop into specially designed three-wheel carts and control their own descent using a simple braking and steering system. Once at the bottom, the chairlift returns riders to the top for another run. (Queenstown NZ)

Insider Tip
Purchase a multi-ride package rather than a single ride. Most visitors find that one run is not enough, and additional rides allow you to experience both the scenic and advanced tracks while improving your technique with each descent. Visiting early morning or late afternoon often means shorter queues and some of the best lighting for photography. (Home)
Duration
Allow 2–3 hours to fully enjoy the gondola ride, multiple luge runs, summit viewpoints, and refreshments at the Skyline complex. Combined with the Gondola experience, the Skyline Luge is widely regarded as one of Queenstown’s must-do attractions and a highlight of any South Island itinerary. (Home)
